Best Dishwashers
Below we reveal our list of the best dishwashers and review each one. We tried to pick models from a variety of price points from the most expensive to the cheapest.
At the bottom of the list we also provide a spec comparison chart so you can easily compare one dishwasher versus another.
Buyers should be aware that these appliances go on sale often and the prices seen here were the best prices we found at time of publication.
9.3
Bosch 800 Series SHPM88Z75N
The SHPM88Z75N dishwasher uses Bosch’s advanced PrecisionWash system that has intelligent sensors that scan and check the progress of dishes throughout the cycle. To dry it uses the patented CrystalDry technology which transforms moisture into heat up to 176F for the ultimate dry along with the PureDry system that works without a heating element so it is safe even for plastics to be placed anywhere. A half load and sanitize option are also available.
Other features include a 3rd rack, 16 place settings, FlexSpace tines on lower rack which allows you to fold back every other tine to create more space for bulky items like pots and pans, 9-position upper rack, and long-lasting stainless steel tub. The controls are hidden away on top of the door and an InfoLight shines a red beam on the floor to indicate the washer is running.
The Bosch 800 Series SHPM88Z75N comes in stainless steel with a pocket handle, however there are several different variations available for the 800 Series. Overall the performance is second-to-none, but you do have to pay a premium for it. If price is a concern for you there are cheaper Bosch models that perform amazingly well.
9.3
Bosch 500 Series SHPM65Z55N
The SHPM65Z55N has 5 different cycles including the Speed60 cycle which lets you wash and dry dishes in just 60 minutes. It is slightly louder than the 800 series, but still really quiet at just 44 decibels. It also comes with PrecisionWash, 3 racks, FlexSpace Tines, and 16 places settings.
The Bosch 500 Series SHPM65Z55N is just a touch below the 800 Series in terms of performance, however it is significantly cheaper. It also has several different variations in terms of color, handle options, and controls.
9.2
Bosch 300 Series SHEM63W55N
The SHEM63W55N dishwasher uses the PrecisionWash technology to wash, but does not have the CrystalDry or AutoAir drying system. Instead it uses the PureDry system which ends each cycle with an extra hot rinse which then whisks the moisture away as the dishes cool.
Other features include a 3rd rack, 5 cycles including Speed60 cycle, 16 place settings, and FlexSpace tines.
Overall the Bosch 300 Series dishwasher is quiet, efficient, reliable, and effective all for a mid-range price. That is why we recommend the SHEM63W55N for most buyers. The 300 series also comes in 17 different variations – mainly style differences, but they all perform the same.
9.2
KitchenAid KDTM354ESS
The KDTM354ESS also features a ProScrub Option, which eliminates the need for soaking or pre-scrubbing, that uses 40 targeted spray jets to help remove stubborn, baked-on food. Just make sure you put those items on the bottom rack, not the top.
Other features include 6 cycles, 15 place settings, 44 decibel operation, and 2 racks. It fits deep bowls better than Bosch models, but it is not as flexible and has less capacity for some items.
Overall we really like the KitchenAid KDTM354ESS, however it is a bit more expensive than the Bosch 300 Series, and KitchenAid dishwashers not quite as reliable as Bosch version which have a great reputation of reliability.
9.1
Samsung DW80R9950US
So how does it perform? Well it ranks very close to the Bosch models in both cleaning and drying. It has a linear wash system with jets providing corner to corner coverage. The DW80R9950US also has an AutoRelease Door that automatically opens when the cycle is complete to aid in drying. Some other features include a 3rd rack, 7 wash cycles including Express 60 for faster loads, space for 15 place settings, and Wi-Fi to remotely control and monitor the dishwasher.
Overall the Samsung DW80R9950US is a really great machine, however, we have to provide some caution because some Samsung appliances have not been the most reliable. In fact the leading consumer magazine graded Samsung dishwashers as having poor reliability which really hurt its score. However, so far we haven’t seen many issues with the Samsung DW80R9950US with a very positive 4.7 overall rating from buyers on HomeDepot.com.

9.1
Bosch 300 Series SPE53U55UC
The performance of the SPE53U55UC is still quite good and pretty quiet at 46 decibels. It has four wash cycles, sanitize option, three rack height levels for nine different positions, flexible silverware basket, and front controls for easy operation.
We recommend the Bosch 300 Series SPE53U55UC for anyone who needs an 18-inch dishwasher since it provides a great value for the price.
9
Bosch Ascenta SHX3AR75UC
The SHX3AR75UC uses the PrecisionWash system so it cleans really well, however, it does not have any specialized drying technology to aid in drying so some dishes might still be wet when the cycle is complete. There is also less flexibility in the racks compared to other Bosch Series since this one only has 2 racks, although there is a manual height adjustment, and room for 14 place settings.
Top controls provide 4 cycles to choose from. It is also noisier than the higher rated Bosch models at 50 decibels.
The bottom line is that we would not hesitate recommended the Bosch Ascenta SHX3AR75UC for anyone who wants a good value dishwasher.
9
Bosch 100 Series SHEM3AY55N
So the SHEM3AY55N is very similar to the Ascenta, however in testing the leading consumer magazine felt the Ascenta cleaned dishes just a little bit better. It has six wash cycles and a noise level of 50 decibels. It also has exposed front controls as opposed to the more hidden top controls.
Overall the Bosch 100 Series SHEM3AY55N is a great affordable dishwasher that would make a great choice for any buyer.
8.9
Whirlpool WDF520PADM
The WDF520PADM cleans and drys dishes nearly as good as the top-tier models on this list. However, it is louder at 55 decibels. It also doesn’t have quite as much flexibility or versatility with just 2 racks with fixed tines and 4 cycles. It does have an AccuSense feature that senses how dirty the dishes are and adapts the normal cycle for customized cleaning.
Yes there are washers that perform better and are quieter, but they can cost twice as much. So if you find it on sale for under $400, we think the Whirlpool WDF520PADM qualifies as the best cheap dishwasher you can buy.
8.8
Maytag MDB4949SHZ
The MDB4949SHZ washes really good, but not quite as good as the higher rated models. It does dry really well with heat added to aid in drying. At 50 decibels it is not super quiet, but not too loud either. It also comes with a fingerprint resistant stainless steel.
8.7
Whirlpool WDT730PAHZ
The overall cleaning performance is really good, but maybe not quite great. Drying is aided by a fan to pull in fresh air. Other features include an adjustable upper rack, room for 15 place settings, and fingerprint resistant stainless steel or black stainless steel option.
8.5
Whirlpool WDF330PAHW
The WDF330PAHW is a no-frills version with just 3 cycles and room for 13 place settings. It is bit on the noisy side at 55 decibels.
The Whirlpool WDF520PADM is better than the Whirlpool WDF330PAHW and can be found for cheaper when on sale. So consider that one first, but you might be able to find the WDF330PAHW for cheaper if it is on sale.
It is also available at HomeDepot.com.
8.3
LG LDP6797ST
The cleaning performance of the LDP6797ST is not quite as good as the Bosch or other highly rated models, but still gets the job done. Some of the dishes are not totally dry when the cycle is done either. Though it is pretty quiet at just 44 decibels.
Some other features include a third adjustable rack, room for 15 place settings, and 10 different wash cycles.
If you don’t want a ‘Smart’ dishwasher then you should consider a different machine, however, if you do want a dishwasher that is Smart Home enabled then the LG LDP6797ST is definitely one to consider.
8.2
GE GDF530PGMWW
The GDF530PGMWW uses a steam prewash to loosen up stuck-on food and eliminate the need for soaking or pre-rinsing dishes. It also has a 1 hour wash cycle when you need dishes fast.
If price is an important factor for you then you should absolutely consider the GE GDF530PGMWW.
7.8
Frigidaire FFCD2413US
Unfortunately Frigidaire dishwashers don’t have a very high owner satisfaction and are not the most reliable. That is what happens you pay the least money you can, but if price is your utmost concern you still might want to consider the Frigidaire FFCD2413US.
